A police-led initiative to help Marlborough teenagers get in shape is being hailed a success.
The CACTUS physical education programme offers 13- to 18 year-olds the chance to develop skills and improve their fitness in a military-style training camp.
Pupils at both Marlborough Boys and Girls Colleges can take part, and it's also offered in Havelock, Picton and Nelson.
Parents, teachers and community leaders are all praising the programme saying it teaches both fitness and discipline.
Marlborough Youth Trust chairperson Russ Smith says the scheme also helps to dispel myths teenagers might have about the police.
The course runs for eight weeks three mornings a week starting at 6am.
