Man charged after Mt Eden fatal stabbing

A man has been charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after a fatal stabbing of a man in the Auckland suburb of Mt Eden.

Emergency services were called to the Burnley Terrace house just before 6.30pm on Tuesday and a man was arrested a short time later.

The accused, whose name is suppressed, has been charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Police say more serious charges are likely to be laid.

The man was remanded in custody to reappear at the Auckland District Court on 20 November.

The victim's name has also been suppressed while his next-of-kin are informed and a forensic report has been ordered.
