Tensions rise between prostitutes and residents

10:03 am on 14 November 2013

A Christchurch City councillor is planning a meeting next week to try to find a resolution to tensions between residents and prostitutes on north Manchester Street.

Ali Jones says sex workers moved to the residential area when the central city was cordoned off after the earthquakes, but they haven't returned to the CBD since the cordons were lifted.

Ms Jones says the reason why prostitutes aren't moving back needs to be solved because tensions with residents are continuing to rise.

She says a solution can be worked out for everyone next Thursday.
