Some have told Radio New Zealand News it is confusing having to keep using both the old and new tickets, on routes where all the buses have not switched over.

Others don't know how to switch credit from their obsolete cards to AT Hop and believe they will lose money left unused on their old tickets.

Auckland Transport chief operating officer Greg Edmonds says 1300 buses cannot be switched at once.

He believes the agency is doing well in educating passengers about the system.

The AT Hop ticket is already used on trains and ferries.
