Coastline searched in Miramar homicide case

7:23 pm on 19 November 2013

Police divers have been searching part of Wellington's coastline for items that could have disguised the killer of a woman found dead in her home.

A post-mortem has confirmed that Mei Fan, 37, died of multiple injuries consistent with a violent and brutal attack at her home in Brussels street in the suburb of Miramar.

Ms Fan was last seen on 8 November dropping her two children off at their school and speaking with a teacher. Her body was found two days later by a male friend.

Four members of the dive squad and two Wellington Maritime Unit staff searched for up to three hours on Tuesday.

Detective Senior Sergeant John van den Heuvel said police believe the killer wore a disguise which may have been dumped in the water near Ms Fan's house. Police have several suspects, he said.

Divers searched Shelly Bay on Tuesday.
