McLeans Forest Park reopens after storm clear-up

12:05 pm on 23 November 2013

One of Canterbury's most popular green spaces has reopened for the first time since destructive windstorms caused massive damage to the area in September.

Walking and mountain bike tracks in McLeans Forest Park were badly hit in the storm. It has been operating with reduced tracks via a temporary entrance since mid-October.

Canterbury Regional Council says its parks team has put in a huge effort clearing fallen and dangerous trees in an effort to make the park safe again.

The usual entrance can be used again from Saturday though not all tracks are yet available, as some will take several more months to rebuild.
