Motorcycle enthusiasts say they are bowled over by a Dunedin exhibition of 100 years of motorbikes.

The Revolution exhibition at Otago Museum showcases 105 motorcyles dating back to 1902, organised by decade, to show the many technological and design shifts since that time.

In its first five days the show attracted almost 3925 visitors.

Dunedin panelbeater Dave Matika, who loaned the museum one of his hand-crafted machines, says the exhibition is incredible.

Mr Matika says he has restored many bikes but the collection has several he had never seen before.

He says he had no idea so many great bikes were hidden in southern sheds.
