Three teenagers will appear in the Youth Court on Monday, after three other teens were kidnapped and forced to drive around the Wellington region for five hours.
The accused youths, aged 14 to 17, will face charges of kidnapping, aggravated robbery and grievous bodily harm.
They are alleged to have used a sharpened screwdriver to force the victims, who they did not know, to follow their orders.
Detective Sergeant Christiaan Barnard says he's never encountered that type of kidnapping before.
He says most of the time, kidnappings involve people who know each other.
