Man killed at Lyttelton port

A man in his 50s has been killed in an accident at the port of Lyttelton.

The man is believed to have been hit by a logging truck while walking on a port road at No 2 Wharf just after 3pm on Wednesday.

Police say bystanders and paramedics attempted CPR, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is believed to have been an employee of a contracting firm at the South Island port.
