The New Zealand Transport Agency says the Rimutaka Hill Road between Wellington and Wairarapa is open after being closed for seven hours on Thursday due to slips.

A large slip came down about 10am and a series of small slips followed.
The Transport Agency said further falls made it too dangerous for commuters.
The road was re-opened late in the afternoon.
