Police are urgently seeking a man who escaped from Dunedin's central police station on Wednesday afternoon.

Tolu Maanaiama is considered dangerous and should not be approached.
The 27-year-old Samoan is 176cm tall and of solid build.
Police say Mr Maanaiama has a tattoo on his neck with the word Jahliyah or similar, and numerous tattoos around his hands and upper arm.
