Free camping - as long as you clean up as well

2:06 pm on 5 December 2013

People are being offered the chance to stay at campgrounds in the Marlborough Sounds for free this summer - as long as they are happy to tidy up every day and clean the toilets.

The Department of Conservation is recruiting volunteers to help maintain three camp sites: Camp Bay, Cowshed Bay and Keneperu Head.

Duties include keeping the campground tidy, and offering advice and help to visitors.

As well as getting free camping, the volunteers will also receive $50 a week towards groceries.
