Three men had to be airlifted out of Tongariro National Park in the central North Island on Saturday afternoon.
Two of them were competing in an alpine running race but one injured his leg and the other his elbow.
The third, who was walking the Tongariro Crossing, had severe cramp and was hypothermic.
All three were taken to Taupo Hospital.
