Council finds house for family using tent

The Christchurch City Council says it has offered a rental house to a mother-of-three who moved her family into a tent in one of the city's parks.

Nellie Hunt, 35, and her children had to leave her rental home on Monday after the owner sold it.

Despite applying for dozens of rentals, Ms Hunt said she has not been able to find a new home.

The council confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that it has offered Ms Hunt a four-bedroom rental house.

However, a spokesperson said Ms Hunt has not yet accepted the offer as she is considering other options before making a decision.
