Bushman fined for illegally milling rimu

A bushman from Golden Bay who advertised rough sawn rimu timber for sale on internet auction site Trade Me has been fined $3000.

Andrew Benjamin Kelsall was also ordered by a Nelson judge to pay an additional $1000 in costs to the Ministry for Primary Industries on the charge of having native timber milled without consent.

Three cubic metres of rough sawn rimu valued at approximately $3000 was forfeited to the Crown.
