Police try to contact family of missing British tramper

9:20 pm on 21 December 2013

Police looking for a British tramper who hasn't been seen for more than a week are trying to contact his family in Britain.

It is understood Andrew Benjamin Wyatt, 36, has been walking the Te Araroa trail in the Nelson Lakes National Park and was last seen at Blue Lake on about 13 December.

Search and rescue coordinator Phil Simmonds says police are concerned that if Mr Wyatt is still in the park then he's in some kind of trouble.

He says they have contacted another person who was on the track last week and have interviewed them.

Mr Simmonds says they are using Mr Wyatt's Facebook account to try and contact friends and family in Britain.
