A German tourist has been badly injured after he was accidentally shot near Gisborne
Police say the 22-year-old man was out with a group of people hunting goats when he was shot with a high-powered rifle just before 6pm Tuesday evening.
His companions took him to Gisborne Hospital, where he's in a critical condition.
Police say the man is here on holiday and Interpol has been asked to contact his family in Germany.
They say the gun has been recovered and they're not looking for anyone in connection with the shooting.
Police are still confirming details about who fired the weapon and it's too soon to make any other information public.
