The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade says it is trying to confirm reports people have been arrested over the killings of a New Zealand woman and a British man in Libya.

Lynn Howie and Mark De Salis were found shot dead on a beach near the coastal area of Mellitah, outside a large oil and gas complex.
Libyan news agencies are reporting authorities there have arrested four people in connection with the pair's deaths.
A Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson says the ministry's aware of the reports and following them up through the Libyan authorities.
The spokesperson says British consular staff in Libya have been helping with the ministry's enquiries and the two groups will continue to work closely during the Libyan investigation into the deaths of Lynn Howie and Mark De Salis.
He says the ministry's in close contact with Ms Howie's family and providing them with consular help.
The BBC reports that Mark De Salis had been working in Tripoli for six years as a power manager for First Engineering. His family said it is shocked and devastated to learn of his death.
The family of Ms Howie has requested privacy and that no further details be released. MFAT said she normally resided in New Zealand and was visiting Libya.
Mellitah is near the town of Zuwarah, 100km west of Tripoli. The area is home to a large oil and gas complex co-owned by ENI of Italy.
