A truck has rolled in the Bay of Plenty town of Waikino, dropping a barrel of the agricultural chemical Roundup into a nearby stream.
The truck rolled at the intersection of Waitawheta and Kennedy roads, spilling four containers of the herbicide.
One 2000-litre container fell into the Taieri stream, but the Fire Service does not know whether it remained sealed or spilled into the water. The driver of the truck is uninjured.
The intersection of Waitawheta and Kennedy roads was temporarily closed to allow a tow truck to remove the vehicle.
