Cordon lifted in Hastings manhunt

4:05 pm on 10 January 2014

A cordon in central Hastings has been lifted after police failed to find the person they were looking for.

A spokesperson says officers were trying to locate Mongrel Mob associate Miharo Jason Papa who is wanted for failing to appear in court.

Police received information that the 29-year-old may have a firearm and called in the Armed Offenders Squad. Several streets around Heretaunga Street East were blocked off, but the man was not at the property concerned.

Mr Papa is also wanted in relation to an incident in Hastings a week ago.

He is described as Maori, of solid build, and has numerous tattoos around his neck including a newly tattooed swastika on his left cheek.
