Organisers of an anti-drilling flotilla on Otago harbour on Sunday afternoon say they will not delay any commercial traffic.

Their boats are expected to block the shipping channel between Quarantine and Goat Islands near Port Chalmers for three hours.

Niamh O'Flynn said the event is to send a message to oil companies and the Government, but it has been timed so as not to disrupt shipping.

Ms O'Flynn said the way of oil-company ships may be blocked in future.
