Public help sought to make capital safer

4:06 pm on 17 January 2014

Police are asking for public input to help make Wellington a safer place.

They have launched an online survey where people can share their experiences to help build new safety initiatives.

Area commander Inspector Chris Scahill says statistics show most crime happens in the city centre and the survey is to glean new ideas for prevention.

He says most Wellingtonians feel safe during the day and 70% feel safe after dark, but there is room to improve for people who don't.

The survey can be found on the police website.
