A search for a missing Gisborne man has been called off.
Jesse Tamatea went missing on Monday after he fell off a kayak north of Gisborne.
Search co-ordinator Sergeant Greg Lexmond says one final search was made on Sunday afternoon involving police, search and rescue volunteers and lifeguards. He says after several days, the search for the 25-year-old has been called off.
Mr Lexmond says members of the search team are disappointed they did not find the body, but there is still a chance it may be found.
The matter is being referred to the coroner.
