Five teenagers from Auckland were to appear in the Hamilton Youth Court on Monday after a crime spree in Waikato.
The boys, all 14, are alleged to have taken a car from Auckland on Saturday and travelled to Hamilton.
Police say they are charged with stealing a number of cars and taking them back to Auckland.
Each of the five is facing seven charges of unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, four of theft from a car and one of attempted unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
One of the boys also faces a charge of reckless driving and failing to stop after police pursued a vehicle in Huntly.
Three of the group were placed in secure care, while two have been released to their parents.
