About 5500 households were without electricity on Tuesday, after winds of nearly 100km/h brought down trees and power lines.

Lines company Vector says 50 homes in South Head remain without power and they will be reconnected later on Tuesday night.

Customers in Maraetai, Muriwai, Kaipara, Clevedon, Snells Beach, Waiwera, Puhoi, Parakai and Whangateau have been been reconnected.

The Fire Service said it has dealt with about two dozen mainly wind related callouts in the upper North Island. There have been no reports of injuries.

MetService on Tuesday night lifted severe weather warnings for the upper North Island as the remains of Cyclone June move further away from the country.
