A group of shops in Invercargill has suffered damage after a fire on Wednesday morning.
The Fire Service says it received multiple calls about 4am about a group of shops on fire at the intersection of Chelmsford and Salford Streets.
It says when firefighters arrived more than half the shops were well-involved in fire.
A second alarm was transmitted and off-duty and volunteer firefighters also turned up to help get the fire under control.
No people are believed to have been in the buildings.
A fire investigator will be on the scene later on Wednesday morning.
