Two people are in a serious condition in hospital after a truck and car collided on State Highway 2 at Whakaki near Wairoa.
Police say one person has multiple internal injuries.
The Hawke's Bay road remains closed, but a diversion is in place through a nearby paddock.
The Serious Crash and the Commercial Vehicle Investigation Units will be conducting an inquiry.
