Greymouth crash victim named

Police have named the man who was killed after the car he was travelling in crashed into a house in Greymouth.

Judd Stone Hall, who was 26 and from Cobden in Greymouth was in the car with two other local men when it crashed just off High Street about 11pm Friday.

Police said the car had been speeding and failed to stop when an officer tried to pull it over. The officer lost sight of it as it travelled around a bend in the road, and shortly after found it had crashed into a house.

The examination of the crash scene was completed on Saturday and investigators were continuing to interview witnesses and people in the area.

Police said earlier a 28-year-old man was in Grey Base Hospital after being impaled in the abdomen during the crash. A 24-year-old was also in hospital with chest injuries.
