10:52 am on 27 January 2014

An investigation is underway after a New Zealand freight plane crash-landed in Solomon Islands.

Airwork of Auckland says the Boeing 737's landing gear collapsed shortly after landing causing the plane to slide to a halt on the runway at Honiara international airport.

It says none of the three crew were injured in the incident.

Honiara international airport had to be closed while the plane was removed from the runway.
