Kindergarten teachers endorse deal

Kindergarten teachers have overwhelmingly endorsed a settlement that contains a $2000 leadership allowance for head teachers.

It also ensures kindergarten teachers retain parity with primary teachers.

The settlement was negotiated by the primary teachers' union, the NZEI. President Judith Nowotarski says the recognition of the importance of leadership in kindergartens is welcome.

However, she says the Government needs to invest much more in early childhood education after cuts in funding since 2010.
