A large gorse fire in rural Waikato has been brought under control.
Seven fire crews from around the area fought the blaze, which at one point covered 6000 square metres, south-west of Matamata on Friday afternoon.
The Fire Service says crews are extinguishing hot spots and says no homes were threatened.
