The board of trustees for an Auckland primary school under fire for handing out tags to parents who paid the school donation admits it made a mistake.
Parents who paid the donation towards Whangaparaoa School were handed a tag which stated that they had paid.
Board chair Tristan Dean said on Friday that many parents were upset with the tags, believing they were being used to shame families who had not paid.
Mr Dean said it was never the board's intention to shame or bully, and admits they made a mistake. They are no longer handing out the tags.
