A gas leak has closed part of Greenwood Street in south-west Hamilton.
The leak is in a gas main and was discovered just after 9am.
Senior Sergeant Rupert Friend said the problem was expected to be fixed by midday.
The leak was in a commercial area which is closed for the public holiday and no one had to be evacuated.
