Burglars busted after Blenheim break

4:28 pm on 11 February 2014

Quick thinking by a member of the public has led to the arrest of three men after $30,000 worth of property was stolen from a Blenheim house.

A police spokesperson said a passer-by saw suspicious behaviour at a property in Hutcheson Street on Monday afternoon, recorded the registration number of the vehicle involved and contacted the police.

More than $30,000 of property was found to be missing from the property, including a laser lighting machine and a fog machine.

A check on the vehicle registration indicated it had links to a spate of recent burglaries in the Nelson area, the spokesperson said. It was recovered in Nelson and all the stolen property was found inside.

Three men from the wider Nelson region have been charged in relation to the burglary.
