A man accused of an attack that left a police officer seriously injured has denied the charges and will face trial in September.

Walter Tauatevalu, 36, appeared at the High Court in Auckland on Wednesday where Justice

Brewer remanded him in custody until his trial on 1 September.

Tauatevalu previously entered a plea of not guilty to one charge of attempted murder and two charges of assaulting a woman.

Sergeant Simon Tate was attacked in September last year. He was repeatedly kicked and punched in the head and upper body.
