The murder-accused prospective Mongrel Mob member has cross-examined a witness for the first time since choosing to represent himself.

Mauha Fawcett, 26, is charged with killing Mellory Manning in Christchurch in 2008 as part of his gang initiation.
The Crown says Ms Manning, 27, who was working as a prostitute, was picked up on Manchester Street by Mongrel Mob members, including the accused, and taken to a gang property in the suburb of Avonside where she was attacked and killed.
The court on Wednesday heard evidence about another property in Phillipstown where a gang jacket and blood were examined by police.
Mr Fawcett asked a police witness whether that blood was found to be his or Ms Manning's, but the officer could not answer.
It was later revealed that it did not belong to either of them.
While Mr Fawcett is representing himself, lawyer Craig Ruane is present to assist the court and has been cross-examining on his behalf.
