Brown private prosecution falters

1:31 pm on 21 February 2014

A bid to take a private prosecution against mayor of Auckland Len Brown has suffered a setback with the High Court saying it is not a criminal matter.

Wellington man Graham McCready is trying to get a case before the courts alleging corruption and money-laundering.

Mr McCready says he'll seek a judicial review of the court decision, because he would struggle with the alternative of taking a civil case.

He says civil cases carry higher fees, and he would also need to hire a lawyer.

The mayor's office is making no comment.
