More than one hundred people attended the funeral of the former head of the New Zealand Broadcasting School, Paul Norris, in Christchurch on Friday.

Mr Norris, who was 72, died in hospital in Christchurch.

The service was held in the Cardboard Cathedral and his brother, Michael Norris, who spoke at the service, says people came from around the world and New Zealand to attend.

Mr Norris had a major role in changing the landscape of television news and current affairs in New Zealand.

He grew up in Timaru, then moved to Britain where he worked for the BBC for almost 20 years.

He returned to New Zealand in 1987 to take over as director of news and current affairs at Television New Zealand.
