Problems for Wellington rail services

7:10 pm on 28 February 2014

Problems continue to dog Wellington's commuter rail services on Friday evening, with all trains on the Hutt Valley line suspended due to an overhead power fault.

Buses replaced trains on a number of lines over the early evening rush-hour, after a pedestrian was hit by a train at Waikanae north of the capital at about 3.20pm on Friday, suffering minor injuries.

TranzMetro says the accident forced the cancellation of key services to the Hutt Valley and Porirua after staff were moved to Waikanae from other areas to assist a police investigation into the incident.
