A disgraced Justice of the Peace has been stripped of his immigration adviser's licence.

Daljit Singh, a leader of the Auckland Sikh community, was found guilty in December last year of electoral fraud relating to the local government elections in Auckland in 2010.

In February this year he was sentenced lto five months' community detention.

The Immigration Advisers Authority on Monday refused to renew Singh's licence to give immigration advice.

The authority says it takes dishonesty very seriously and has deemed Singh unfit to hold a licence.

Associate Justice Minister Chester Borrows says an order formally stripping Singh of his title will be gazetted later in the week.
