Police say they are investigating the discovery of a human skull on Nelson's shoreline.
The skull and other human bones were found below the high tide mark on the coastal edge of the Nelson Airport walkway on Sunday.
Police are working with the Department of Conservation to identify the bones.
They are most likely to be historic and just unearthed by recent large tides.
