A man pulled unconscious from Lake Taupo on Tuesday has died.
Sidhant Sharma was on a private boat with three others, who were friends and family.
A police spokesperson said the 21-year-old went swimming about 2.30pm and was pulled from the water when he failed to surface.
Members of his party made a mayday call while an overseas tourist, who had seen they needed help, swam to the boat and performed CPR.
Mr Sharma, who was from India but was studying and staying in Rotorua, was taken to Waikato Hospital. However, he died on Wednesday morning.
