A search is underway to identify the voices of five Gallipoli veterans who appeared in a radio documentary recorded in 1969.
The programme was made by broadcaster, Laurie Swindell.
The documentary, simply called ANZAC, was recorded in the studios of 2ZC in Napier in January 1969.
It involved five veterans recalling the landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 and the horrors of war that they and their mates faced.
The men would have been in their seventies in 1969.
Sound archivist Sarah Johnston says there is no record of who the men were, but she is almost certain that the men were from Hawke's Bay.
She says the documentary makes for compelling listening.
It can be heard on line at the sound archives or film archive websites.
