Glen Jones' severely injured body was found in his home in January last year and he later died in Wellington Hospital.

Matthew McKinney, Hayden Ranson, Kristopher Jones and Tariana Jones are on trial in the High Court at Wellington charged with his murder.

Crown prosecutor Grant Burston said in his closing address on Monday the attack on Mr Jones was incredibly violent and involved multiple assaults to the head and body.

All accused took part in the attack and knew there was a real chance Mr Jones might die, Mr Burston said.

Defence lawyers will give their closing addresses on Tuesday.
