Police investigating what they describe as a vicious rape in Auckland's Symonds Street cemetery are trying to track down a man identified in CCTV footage.

They say a 34-year-old woman was attacked during the early hours of Saturday 15 March.
She also suffered serious injuries to her head, body and legs, and spent two days in hospital.
Police say the man seen on security camera footage may have valuable information about the investigation.
They also want a woman who called 111 the same morning saying a man had attempted to rape her in nearby Hereford or Hopetown Street to contact them - in case her complaint is related.
