Rescue teams searching for a missing plane around the Coromandel Peninsula are trying to establish which route the pilot may have taken.
The home-built aerobatic bi-plane and its 53-year-old pilot left the Ardmore airfield on Tuesday morning and there has been no sign of them since.
On Friday, an Air Force helicopter completed a search along the eastern side of the peninsula.
Search mission coordinator Dave Wilson said they are trying to build a picture of possible routes the plane may have taken.
Mr Wilson said the search is being reviewed to see if there are any other areas which need investigation.
