The car at the centre of a homicide investigation has been removed from the Christchurch supermarket carpark where it may have been parked for up to a week.
Police launched the investigation after a body was found in the boot of the white Toyota in the New World carpark on St Johns Street in Woolston on Sunday afternoon.
A neighbour, Niquita Cowan, says police, including a forensic team, arrived at the carpark at about 4pm.
She says they cordoned off an area around the car and also searched three others parked around it.
Ms Cowan says she understands the car had been parked at the carpark for up to a week and that the body in the boot was that of a young woman.
