Police investigating the violent death of homeless man Maqbool Hussain in the Auckland suburb of Balmoral have a warrant to arrest a 28-year-old man.
Justin Vance Turner was identified by police as a person of interest soon after Mr Hussain's beaten body was discovered on 24 March.
The officer in charge of the homicide investigation, Detective Inspector Chris Cahill, said it is possible Mr Turner was spotted in the southern Wairarapa town of Featherston on Friday night and Saturday morning.
Mr Cahill said Mr Turner has a history of violence and should not be approached.
