Commuters in Auckland saw flames rising from the Devonport ferry terminal on Tuesday morning after a coffee machine caught alight.
Four fire crews were sent to the wharf retail centre at 6.15am after calls advising that the terminal was on fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished.
The Fire Service says the flames may have gone through a chimney and made the fire look bigger than it was.
