The condition of a man shot in a hunting accident near Opotiki has improved overnight.
The man, who is in his 20s, was shot in a remote bush area while on a hunting trip with two others from the Hamilton area.
He was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital on Monday and was in a critical condition on Monday night.
The hospital said on Tuesday that he is now in a serious but stable condition.
Police are investigating.
